REFURB Part Two ‘Taking Shape’

APRIL 2019

Kirsty Hamilton beauty salon

MUSICAL CHAIRS……

Now that we have finally confirmed where each station is going, it is time to move on to the decorative side of things. (Pinterest you beauty) I tried not to let OCD get the better of me BUT it can be challenging, although we do have symmetrical waiting areas and nail desks (so Jo and I can keep an eye on each other……JOANNE, who we haven’t mentioned yet is, the third member of our team! More on Jo in the next blog). We then have our make up area and behind this is our express area, behind frosted glass. Opposite this, is the back wash and hair chair…..awaiting Lauren’s magic hands to come back off of maternity leave…LAUREN, the fourth and final member of our girl gang for now….(as above with Jo)

WORKING HARD OR HARDLY WORKING…..?

With the areas decided, Gus comes in and transforms the newly plastered walls into fresh white walls, avoiding our beautifully tiled back wash, express area and marble toilet – Chazz Unrua = outstanding, we absolutely love it all!! The flooring was tricky… Samples, samples, samples ……. Every day we had a new sample come through the door and not one was how we imagined it….another thank you to Scott for recommending all the local flooring places and helping find exactly what we were looking for, now to screed the floor (in March when it is FREEZING) which proved difficult. Lucky for our heating engineers (Bryan Adams and Andy Carlaw) swooped in to install our radiators to allow the floor to dry – BEST FRIENDS EVER! Now its time to squeeze the customised reception desk in (tight squeeze) after considering taking the window out to get it in, we JUST managed! Now to tile the desk, thank you George, it is beautiful and will never move again haha, thank you for your patience!

WHEN PINTEREST IS LIFE…..

Its all getting very real so we may aswell add in the three gigantic mirrors…..still not over Scott and George trusting Nicola and myself to help lift and fit these….but we did it and they look unbelievable!!! BUT my vision had flowers….alllll the way around them, EXTRA I know, I love it!

So the flowers were on there way and the best Mum and sister went down to play about one busy Saturday in April whilst I worked from my amazing make shift salon (mum and dad’s house) I was overwhelmed when I seen their amazing work and how good it looked, forever grateful, superstars!! I then decorated the window with flowers too just to add to the girly feel that we all love!

HANDY MAN…..

With the furniture now all in and built up (thank you Aidan, my patience wore thin pretty quickly) the salon looks lovely and its only the little touches left to do, it would be rude not to pop open a bottle of bubbly and have my mum and her two best friends round for a toast…..whilst they insist on doing the final clean (they are the best and the original ‘Hinchers’) Now roll on April 23 rd 2019 …….
